Brantford author continues search for answers in UFO mystery
Joe Borda believed a UFO landed on his Mount Pleasant tobacco farm in 1975 until the day he died.
The incident went almost completely undocumented until earlier this year when freelance journalist, author and media consultant Bob Mitchell wrote and self-published Incident at Pleasant Ridge – A Canadian UFO mystery.
He held a book signing at the Best Western Brant Park Inn on Saturday to promote that book, as well as another of his books, Intrusion Alien Encounters.
“I was at the (recent Alien Cosmic Expo in Brantford) and I didn’t have (Incident at Pleasant Ridge) and people were asking for it, so I wanted to give people an opportunity to see it,” Mitchell said.
One of Canada’s former top UFOlogists, Henry McKay, tried to find information about the incident at Borda’s farm, but couldn’t.
“It’s very strange, there is almost no information available,” Mitchell said. “What is available is in the book. Almost everyone who investigated or had anything to do with it is dead or hasn’t come forward.”
Mitchell said something left a circular burn in the field, which bent crops and left a purple liquid on the ground, that fateful night on Borda’s farm.
“Whether is was a UFO or an experimental aircraft I don’t know,” he said. “I am not 100 per cent convinced what landed was extra-terrestrial, but something landed.”
Borda reported hearing voices when the incident happened that told him to not pay attention to what was happening and walk away.
“That’s a common theme among people who experience encounters,” Mitchell said. – brantnews.com
